“Ringo Bako” means apple crate, which is what the tables inside this restaurant are made of. This place has a very particular design and caught my eye while I was passing through the nearby market.

Every day from 7PM you can enjoy the sound of the Tsugaru shamisen, composed of percussionist sounds similar to beating a drum and a shamisen.

The market which is located in the same building, provides the restaurants with fresh ingredients on the menu.

Having relentlessly been eating fish in the last few days, I was looking for something new and came across a popular local dish called “Kaiyakimiso” which you can translate by “Shell-grilled Miso Scallop”.

It uses a scallop shell grilled with seasonal ingredients, egg wash, and miso. This dish is really light in taste and resembles a giant omelette – in a shell. Shell-tacular.
