RAPPLE
I like the word ‘Rapple’. It’s probably the best word ever made.
It’s also the name of one of the most popular sweets we found at souvenir shop Shikanai, in Hirosaki station. A ‘Rapple’ is a small puffy cake filled with chopped apples.
The apples used are made in Aomori and are purchased from contracted farmers, and the dough reminded me of chewy cookie dough, albeit lighter.
The dough is soft, the small pieces of apples that cram the dough are crunchy and slightly sweet. It’s the sort of thing you would sneak into your pocket to pop out whilst on your coffee break.
Coffee and Rapples.
What could be better?
